AI consulting: govern first, then automate

Your team is already using AI. The questions are which tools, with what data, and who is accountable when an answer is wrong. We write the rules first, then automate the work inside them. The same firm handles the policy, the data and the build, so nothing falls between them.

Where most firms start

Each of these has a concrete first step.

  1. Staff use AI tools nobody approved

And client data may be going into them.

  2. A client or insurer asks for your AI policy

And there is no written answer.

  3. Leadership wants AI to save time

But nobody knows where to start safely.

  4. A repetitive process is eating hours

    Intake, reporting, follow-ups, document handling.

How it starts

You see the scope in writing before you commit.

  1. Take the AI risk assessment

25 questions, about 10 minutes, results online straight away.

  2. Request a consultation

A 30-minute call on what you found and what you want AI to do.

  3. Receive a written scope

Policy work, a first workflow, or both, with timeline and deliverables.

Security first, because we are a security firm

AI governance at NightFortress follows the governance-first approach set out in Exposed: Inside Risks and the New Architecture of AI Defense, the book by our founder. We also run our own business on governed automation: consultation requests are routed, logged and followed up by workflows we built.

What we are not

We put rules around the AI your team already uses, then put it to work on real tasks. When we build something, we hold it to the same written standard as the policy and show you the evidence.

  • Not an AI software vendorWe don't sell a platform. We work with the tools you have and choose new ones on merit.
  • Not a model-building labWe don't train custom models. We put existing AI tools to work safely.
  • Not a certifierWe align your program to recognized frameworks. We don't certify it.

Questions about AI consulting

More in the full FAQ

What does an AI consultant do for a business?

Two jobs. First, set the rules: which AI tools are approved, what data can go into them, and who reviews the output. Second, put AI to work on a specific, repetitive task with those rules built in. Firms that skip the first job usually end up redoing the second.

Do we need an AI policy if we only use AI for email and writing?

Yes. Most AI risk in a business comes from everyday use, not from building AI. If staff paste client or financial information into an AI tool, you need a written rule about it.

How much does AI consulting cost?

We don't publish prices. Governance cost depends on headcount, how many AI tools are in use, and your data obligations. Automation cost depends on how many systems the workflow touches and how much human review it needs. You receive a written scope after a 30-minute call.

Can you help us choose AI tools?

Yes, as part of governance. We assess tools against your data rules and approve or reject them on merit.

Is the AI risk assessment really free?

Yes. It takes about 10 minutes, and your results appear online straight away.

Do you work outside Northern Virginia?

Yes. Governance and automation work are mostly remote. We meet in person across Northern Virginia and DC.
